Centrally located on Union Avenue, the Campbell Fire Station serves the heart of the City of Campbell, covering downtown, the Pruneyard shopping district, and surrounding neighborhoods. In this week’s video, firefighters on Engine 81 respond to reports of the smell of smoke inside a local business. Using their training and specialized tools, the crew works to locate the source before safely clearing the scene. Back at the fire station, Captain Mayfield leads a tour of the Campbell Fire Station, highlighting the history of the Campbell Fire Department and how Santa Clara County Fire Department continues to preserve that legacy. Campbell Fire Station 81 is one of the department’s busiest stations and plays a vital role in the city’s emergency response. The station houses Engine 81, reserve Truck 181, and two antique fire engines. In June 2025, SVCE co-hosted a ribbon-cutting with the City of Morgan Hill, celebrating the completion of the new all-electric Butterfield Fire Station. The Butterfield Fire Station will improve Morgan Hill's emergency response capabilities and public safety. The pollution and emission-free electric equipment will keep the station's air clean for first responders, and the cost-saving and resilient benefits of the solar and battery storage system make this station a significant achievement in advancing Morgan Hill's climate goals. The SVCE Community Grant Program contributed $500,000 to make the fire station the first all-electric facility in Morgan Hill. Peninsula Clean Energy is celebrating San Mateo County passing reach codes, which require new buildings to be built all-electric. Reach codes are one of the most impactful actions cities can take to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Twenty of our member jurisdictions passed reach codes, inspiring the state to incorporate key elements into its own building codes.
